Lasers Drop Final Game of the Semester to Gordon College 66-54

WENHAM, MA— In their final contest of the first semester, the Lasers lost a tough non-conference road game to Gordon College 66-54 in Wenham.

Lasell was led by Justine Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) with 11 points, while Danielle Autencio (Montville, CT) recorded nine points and seven rebounds in the loss.

With the score an even 6-6 after the opening five minutes, Gordon's Leanna Tallamay
(Wantage, N.J.) hit a jumper in the paint to start the Scots on a 9-2 run resulting in a seven-point lead with 12 minutes to play in the half. Lasell battled back to tie the game at 21-21 after a three point shot by Anna Holcomb (Quincy, MA) with six minutes on the clock and kept it close until Gordon used a 15-2 run to establish a healthy 13-point advantage with two minutes to go before the break.  The Lasers went into half-time down 41-26.

Though the Scots started the second half carrying a 15-point edge, the Lasers came out of the gates firing, going on a 10-2 streak to cut the deficit to seven points with just under 14 minutes remaining. Lasell would further close the gap over the next eight minutes of play leaving Gordon with just a four-point, 51-47 lead with 6:04 remaining in the game. The Scots though buckled down on the defensive end and buried critical shots down the stretch to preserve the victory.

The Lasers will be off for the semester break until January 7th, when they host Emmanuel at 1:00p.m in their first GNAC contest.   The Scots, 4-4, will travel to Johnson & Wales on December 31, for a 1:00p.m., non-conference game.
