Autencio Leads All Players with 24 Points and 16 Boards, but Lasers Fall to Drew

Norton, MA--The Lasers came out firing this afternoon as they jumped out to an 8-2 lead early in the first half against Drew University.  The Rangers fought back though and tied the game at eight on a jumper by Victoria Ault with 15:02 left in the first half.  Drew then held the Lasers to eight points for the next seven minutes as they went on a 12-0 run.  The Lasers found some offense late in the first half led by Danielle Autencio (Montville, CT) with eight and Alexis Chappell (Springfield, MA) with seven and the teams broke at the half with Drew ahead 36-21.  Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half with Lasell shooting 36% and the Rangers shooting 26.8%. 

The Lasers attempted to chip away in the second half and came within 10 at the 15:49 mark and again with 6:53 left in the game.  Drew's shooting though improved in the second half to 47% and the Rangers went 18-23 (78%) from the line to secure the win.  Lasell's shooting improved to 41% in the second half and the Lasers dominated the boards overall, out rebounding Drew 62 -31.

Lasell was led by freshman Autencio who led all scorers this afternoon with 24 points.  She also tallied the only double double by either team, grabbing 16 rebounds.  Taevosha Rentas (Springfield, MA) grabbed 11 boards and Chappell scored 10 in the loss.  Autencio was recognized for her performance this weekend as she was named to the All-Tournament Team. 

Drew was led by Danielle Barber who had 18 points and nine rebounds as Drew improves to 2-1 on the season.

Lasell (0-3) will be in action again on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. when they host Western New England in their home opener.
