LASERS FASHION A 77-66 WIN AT PMC

Four Lasers finished in double figures as the Lasell College women's basketball team downed Pine Manor College 77-66 on the road.  Tricia Culver (N. Hampton, Mass.) and Shauna Kelly (Quincy, Mass.) had 17 and 15 point performances in the second half to pave the way for Lasell's third GNAC victory.

The first half was an even battle as the teams struggled to take a significant lead of any sort. Katie Farr (Rindge, NH) converted on 3-4 attempts and added a freebie to finish with seven first half points for the Lasers.  Farr's distanced three gave the Lasers the biggest lead of the half with under a minute to play, at 28-22, but back-to-back field goals by Enjolee Phillips (Hartford, Conn.) and Stacie Beauford (Baltimore, MD) kept the Lasers on top by only two at halftime.

Lasell did not pull ahead until a Culver jump shot at 5:18 put the Lasers up for good.  Pine Manor stayed in the game because of a 48-35 edge in total boards, including 22 offensive second chances, but the Lasers still came out victorious. The Lasers advantage was due largely to the fact that they converted on 28 of 35 free throws in the second half.  Culver went 10-12 from the line and Kelly near matched that going 9-12.

Culver created 22 points and snagged 5 rebounds in the contest whilstKelly posted a double-double, with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kelsey Converse (Laconia, NH) added 14 points and a game-best four assists, and Farr rounded out a quartet of Lasers in double figures with 10.

For the Gators, Phillips finished with a team-high 22 points, and Beauford chipped in with 16. Michelle Campbell (Baltimore, MD/Seton Keough) added seven rebounds.

The Lasers are now 6-11 overall and 3-2 in the conference.  Pine Manor falls to 2-14, and 0-5 in the GNAC.

Lasell has three days off before visiting Wellesley on Wednesday, January 28th for a 7:00 tip off.
