CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lasell College softball team dropped a pair of games on the middle day of the five-day set of doubleheaders Wednesday, falling to Mount St. Joseph College (Ohio), 12-7, and Coast Guard, 9-0, in five innings.

VanDeusen tripled in the third inning and scored on a single by Spellman to cut Mount St. Joe's lead to 2-1 in the top of the third, but the Lions tacked on four runs in the bottom of the third and three in the last of the fourth to make it 9-1.

Lasell erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull to within 9-7. VanDeusen, sophomore Essie Plouffe (North Scituate, R.I.) and Spellman singled to load the bases with no outs, and VanDeusen scored on a wild pitch.
