NEWTON, Mass. (10/4/17) – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2016-2017 Division III All-Academic Teams, ranking the Lasell softball team at #18 with a team GPA of 3.541. The Lasers improve from a #55 ranking from the 2015-2016 season, and join Johnson & Wales University as the only two schools in the top 20 to represent the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). 125 teams across Division III were chosen overall.

The rankings recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions. Garnering the highest GPA in the other college divisions were Western Carolina University (NCAA DI - 3.673), Newbury College (NCAA DIII - 3.675), Siena Heights University (NAIA - 3.780) and College of Southern Idaho (Junior College – 3.686). It marked the second straight year for Newberry and Siena Heights, while Southern Idaho returns to No. 1, a spot it held in 2014-15.
