Pratt & Scully Earn Weekly Honors

Newton, Mass.-For the week ending October 18th, two Lasell College athletes earned weekly Honors by their respective conferences.  Tia Pratt (S. Paris, ME) was recognized as the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week and for the third straight week Matthew Scully (Watertown, Conn.) was selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's cross country Rookie of the Week.

Pratt scored three goals this week, including the game winning goals in two 1-0 victories over Simmons College and Anna Maria College. Pratt scored the sole goal against Simmons in the first half, blasting the deciding goal in the 31st minute of the game to secure Lasell's fifth overall, and third NAC win. Pratt then followed that up with a late tally against Anna Maria, scoring in the final 7 minutes of a scoreless contest for the Lasers' win.  Pratt scored this game-determiner off a penalty corner, taking a long shot from the top of the arc.

Earlier in the week, the junior forward had scored her first of the three goals against Eastern Connecticut State University, also off a penalty corner opportunity.

Pratt is currently sporting 16 points this season, having marked six goals and added four helpers.  She is second on the team in total points, and has two game-winning goals in 2009.

This is Scully's fourth time being recognized as GNAC Rookie of the Week this season, as well as his third consecutive week.  Scully has had a fantastic season for Lasell, as the top Laser to finish each of the six races this season.

Scully was chosen this week for leading the Lasers with a 34th place overall finish at the 2009 Saints Invitational at Franklin Park on Friday, October 16th.  Scully was the fifth GNAC runner to finish he course and he completed the 8K in a time of 28:18.05.

Scully's finish this week was just one second behind his personal best this season of 28:17, which he ran at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.  Scully earned 26th place overall on that course.
