Lasell Men's Cross Country team finishes 7th at GNAC Championships

STANDISH, Maine – The Lasell College men's cross country teams placed seventh Sunday afternoon at the annual Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, hosted by Saint Joseph's College (Maine).

The Lasers were eighth out of 10 schools in the men's scoring. Colby-Sawyer College was awarded the men's championship with 28 points, followed by runner-up Suffolk University (64) and  third-place Emmanuel College (78). 

Junior Matt Holden (Mehuen, Mass.) was the top finisher for Lasell, crossing the finish line in 55th place among 85 runners in the men's 8K race in a time of 33 minutes flat.

Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) and junior Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) were the next two Laser men to cross the line behind Holden, Lane finishing in 65th in 35:23 and Mullen in 67th in 35:54. The final three Lasers came in consecutively, junior Mark Payton (Barrington, R.I.), 78th in 40:36; junior Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.), 79th in 40:45; and sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.), 80th in 41:39.

After the event, Lasell senior Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) received th GNAC All-Sportsmanship award.

The Lasers will wrap up the season on Saturday, November 10, at the NCAA New England Regional Championships in Brunswick, Maine, hosted by Bowdoin College.
