Garifalos Takes Sixth Overall; Men's Cross Country Finishes 3rd

NEWTON, Mass. (9/5/15) – Sophomore Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) finished 6th overall as the men's cross country team placed third in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite. Garifalos led the Lasers with a final time of 29:27.2.

Sophomore Jeremy Shriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) also got a solid start to the year, crossing the finish line at 31:04.4. to grab the 17th spot. Returning senior Patrick Sponzo (Central Valley, N.Y.) took the third place slot for the Lasers at 31:18.3, while freshmen Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) and James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine) stepped on their first collegiate course to record a final time 31:27.5 and 33:00.9.

Next came sophomore Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) who finished at 33:47.3., before freshman Cameron Wiewel (Kennebunk, Maine) etched his first collegiate race time at 35:46.8.

The Lasers will travel to The University of New England for their next race on Saturday, September 12 at 11:30 a.m.
