Lasers Compete in NCAA Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine. - The Lasell College Men's Cross Country Team wrapped up the 2011 season by competing at the highly competitive NCAA New England Regional Meet on Saturday morning. The 8-kilometer event was hosted by Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and featured 48 men's teams. Williams edged Middlebury by one point for the men's title. 

 The Lasers called on the strength and race savvy that they have practiced throughout the season and all seven Lasell racers finished the course in a total time of 2:32:36.25 coming in 45th place out of the field of 48. 

Freshman Kyle Northrop (Bellingham, M.A.)  continued his breakout season with a 173rd place overall finish and  his time of 28:02 sets a new Lasell record for an 8K course.   Junior Raymon Donis' (Raynham, M.A.) 257th place finish was also impressive as he came in just breaking 30 minutes at 29:55.  Conor Devlin (Wellesley, M.A.) a freshman came through the finish line at 30:53 for the Lasers and Isaac Montoya (El Paso, T.X.) and Grant Vantine (Fitchburg, M.A.)  were neck and neck with a 31:46 and 31:58 finish.  Seniors Jean Leger (Waltham, M.A.) and Michael Isherwood (Warwick, R.I.) finished out their collegiate cross country career each with strong races finishing in 32:55 and 33:07 respectively.  Lasell finished with 1,299 total points.  

The Lasers' 2011 Cross Country season is now in the books. Many of the men will now gear up for the winter Indoor Track & Field seasons. The Lasers will open the 2011-12 Indoor Track & Field season on December 3rd at the Smith College Winter Classic.
