2011 Men's Cross Country Preview

2011 Men's Cross Country Preview

Lasell College's men's cross country team has an exciting year ahead of them in 2011. After a 6th place finish as a team in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship in 2010 and losing just one senior to graduation, the Lasers have a wealth of veteran experience to lead the program this year.

Junior Miguel Taveras (Lawrence, MA) is expected to have an outstanding season after leading the Lasers in seven out of eight total races in 2010.  He ran a personal best of 30:12 at the Saints Invitational on the 8K course and paced the team to a 5th place finish at the Monks Invitational with a 15th place individual finish.

Senior Raymon Donis (Rayham, MA) put in an excellent performance at the NCAA Regionals to cap the season.  Donis recorded a time of 30:43 on the challenging NCAA course, which was hosted by Williams College, finishing first for the Lasers at the meet.  Captain Michael Isherwood (Warwick, RI) and fellow senior Grant Vantine (Fitchburg, MA) had personal highlights the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.  Isherwood dropped two minutes off his previous personal best, completing the race in 33 minutes and 34 seconds, while Vantine notched his season best at 33:11.

Junior Mikhail Krevosky (Oxford, MA) and Isaac Montoya (El Paso, TX) will also return to the ranks of the men's team this season to round out the list of veteran runners.  First years Conor Devlin (Wellesley, MA) and Kyle Northrop (Bellingham, MA) will join the squad as well.

The Lasers will hit the ground running on September 3rd at the Keene State Invitational for their first competition of the 2011 season.
