Newton, Mass.- Lasell's men's and women's cross country teams had a superior weekend that led to three athletes being awarded Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly honors.
Senior Zachary Lambert of Marlborough, Massachusetts was selected Runner of the Week in the GNAC, while first year Matthew Scully of Watertown, Connecticut was selected Rookie of the Week for men's cross country. First year Christina Annicelli of North Easton, Massachusetts was honored as women's cross country Rookie of the Week as well.
The Lasers came off a weekend running at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., where the men's team defeated the hosting Lynx by a score of 15-50, and the women's team lost in an incredibly close battle, 28-27.
Scully was the first Laser to cross the finish line, finishing second overall in the meet, with a time of 28:44. Lambert was the second Laser to complete the five mile course, coming in fourth place overall, at 29:55.
Annicelli was the third Lasell woman to complete the 2.5 mile course on Saturday. Placing fifth overall, Annicelli ended her first collegiate contest in 18 minutes 25 seconds.
