QUINCY, Mass. – The Lasell University men's volleyball team defeated the Eastern Nazarene Lions, 3-1, on Tuesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.

The Lasers improve to 3-2 overall while the Lions drop to 3-3 on the season.

Junior Dillon DeSouza (Enfield, Conn.) dominated in the middle for the Lasers with 11 kills hitting at a .421% clip and 4 total blocks on the night. Freshman Jesus Garcia (Honolulu, Hawaii) distributed 47 assists in the four-set match while also posting 15 digs. Junior Cobi Moore (Danville, N.H.) led the team with 17 digs to manage the Lasers defense.

The Lasers began the match on a 6-1 run to gain early control. A service ace from senior Scott Sterenberg (Oceanside, N.Y.) gave the Lasers a 16-9 lead but the Lions found a way to get the visitors out of system. The host tied the set up at 21-21 and outscored the Lasers 6-4 to close out the set.

In the second set, the Lasers held a lead for the entire set except for a tie at 12-12. At 23-20, a pair of kills from freshman Brendan Joyce (Randolph, Mass.) and DeSouza followed by an error from the home team gave the Lasers the win.

The Lasers found their rhythm in the third and fourth sets as their margin of victory increased each set along with their hitting efficiency. In the third set the visitors won 25-18 behind kills from Sterenberg and Joyce. In the final set, the Lasers finished with a .667 hitting percentage while knocking off the Lions 25-10.

The Lasers will play the second match of the back to back tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29 against non-conference opponent Endicott College. The Lions will play next on Thursday, January 30 against Regis College.
