MVB: Dana Jones named acting head coach

NEWTON, Mass. – The Lasell College athletic department has named Dana Jones acting head men's volleyball coach for the remainder of the 2019 season.

Jones has been at Lasell since 2011, serving as assistant coach for the men's volleyball team since 2014. He also was an assistant coach with the women's program from 2011-2014 before taking over as head coach prior to the 2018 season.

"I am excited to have Dana take over as the acting head coach of our men's volleyball program," said director of athletics Kristy Walter. "He has played a key role for us the past several years as an assistant, and he did a commendable job in his first year as head coach of our women's program. We feel both of our volleyball programs are in good hands."

Jones led the Laser women's team to a 13-19 record last fall in his first season at the helm, which including coaching the GNAC Rookie of the Year Kiana Perez. In addition to coaching at Lasell, Jones has experience coaching the BU Men's Club Team, Metro Bay State Games and Brookline High School Boys team.

Coach Jones, who begins as men's acting head coach immediately, takes over for Tom Olson, who stepped down earlier this week for personal reasons.
