Lasell Men’s Volleyball falls to Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Lasell College men's volleyball team fell to Endicott College in straight sets Thursday evening, 3-0, on Thursday night inside MacDonald Gymnasium.

Junior Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) led the Gulls with eight kills on 11 swings for a .636 hitting percentage while freshman Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, N.H.) had four kills. Both players came off the bench to help the Gulls hit .284 as a team in the three-set victory.

Lasell junior Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.) switched out of his libero jersey in the third set and finished the match with a team-high six kills. Aprea also had seven digs and two block assists in the loss. Junior setter Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, Mass.) dished out 18 assists and had four digs, while classmate Nathan Gallo (North Providence, R.I.) matched Aprea with a team-high seven digs.

Endicott ran off seven straight points early in the first set to pull ahead 9-2. The Gulls pulled ahead by double digits (14-4) and went on to close out the set 25-13.

A five-point run by Endicott double the Gulls' lead, moving from a 5-5 tie to a 10-5 margin. After Lasell stopped the streak, the home team ran off six points in a row to extend the advantage to 16-6. The Lasers couldn't recover and dropped the second set, 25-16.

Lasell played its best of the evening in the third set, keeping with striking distance most of the way. Endicott led just 8-7 after a kill by Gallo and 11-10 following an Aprea winner. The Gulls pulled ahead to a 21-14 lead, but Lasell kept battling, pulling to within three points at 21-18. Endicott proved too strong and closed out the set, 25-19.

Lasell looks to rebound from their third straight loss next weekend with a four-set slate at the Golden Flyer Invitational in Rochester, N.Y. when they will take on St. John Fisher and Medaille on Friday, February 16. Endicott (8-1) travels to GNAC opponent Emerson on Tuesday, February 13 for a 7:00 PM match.
