UNION, N.J. – The Lasell College men's volleyball team faced a nationally-ranked team for the second straight weekend Friday afternoon, falling to #7 Kean University in straight sets in the opening match of The Clash at Kean's Harwood Arena.

Kean improved to 4-0 with the victory while Lasell, which dropped a match to #1-ranked Springfield last weekend, fell to 0-3.

Kean was powered by senior Jared Warner who tallied 10 kills along with no errors (.769%) as well as three blocks.  The Cougars hit .407 as a unit in the 25-17, 25-16, 25-20 win.

Freshman Conor Leary-Watson (Bethany, Conn.)  had eight kills and a .545 attack percentage to lead the Lasers while junior Jordan Aprea (Newington, Conn.) had seven kills and four digs.  Junior setter Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, Mass.) finished with 19 assists.

The Cougars trailed for the first half of the first set and tied things up and took the lead (12-11) on back-to-back aces from Ian Capp.  Kean kept the advantage the rest of the way and ended the set on four straight points.

Trailing for only two points the Cougars cruised to a set two win as Shayron Taylor recorded five kills and Steven Zarzycki registered four. Kean led or tied for the entire third set to cruise to the straight set win.

Lasell will play two more matches Saturday at the Clash at Kean, facing Medaille College at 10:00 a.m. and Marymouth (Va.) at 12:30 p.m.
