BEVERLY, MA- Eventual ECAC Division III Men’s Volleyball North Champion Newbury College defeated Lasell College, 3-0, in the semi-final round of the tournament to conclude their 2011 campaign. The Lasers finished the year with a 22-16 overall record, the best record in program history.
Andrew Glenn is the NECVA Conference Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row after the 6-foot-0 setter, a six-time GNAC Rookie of the Week, led the Lasers to their first-ever NECVA Tournament. As the No. 16 seed, Lasell won a set from top-seeded and eventual tournament champions Nazareth College as Glenn distributed 36 assists in 94 attempts for a .383 setting percentage. He added three kills (3-1-7, .286) and two digs. He averaged 9.00 assists per set.
After the winningest season in Lasell men’s volleyball history (22-15), and their first ever appearance in the NECVA Tournament, the Lasers impressive 2011 season continues on as Lasell was selected as the No. 3 seed in the ECAC Division III North Men’s Volleyball Tournament.
Hoboken, NJ- The No. 16 seeded Lasell College men’s volleyball team played even with No. 1 Nazareth through two sets before the Golden Flyers amped it up to take a 3-1 edge over the Lasers and advance to the quarter finals. Lasell (22-15) was dropped out of the single-elimination tournament after the first round by scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-14, 25-15.

Freshman setter Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) has been voted the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year as well as a First Team All-Conference recipient after a spectacular inaugural season with the Lasell College men’s volleyball team. Senior middle hitter Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) also earned All-Conference accolades, making the ranks on the second team.
JERSEY CITY, NJ- The regular season is nearing completion, the divisional champions have been crowned and the selections for the 17th and final North East Collegiate Volleyball Association championship tournament have been determined. After more than three months of competition, the field of 16 which will compete for the 2011 NECVA Championship from Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3 at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ was announced Monday by the NECVA Tournament Selection Committee. The No. 16 seed is Lasell College (22-14). The Lasers make their first-ever NECVA Tournament appearance—the only first-time qualifier in the 2011 field. Lasell was third in the GNAC regular season standings before advancing to the division’s championship match.
NASHUA, NH- Ranked in third place entering the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Tournament on Saturday, Lasell College men’s volleyball upset no. 2 seeded Emmanuel College, 3-1, in their first match of the day before falling to the no. 1 seed, and eventual 2011 GNAC Champion Rivier College, 3-1, in match two.
BOSTON, MA- Lasell College men’s volleyball finished the 2011 regular season with a 3-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over Emerson College on Thursday night in Boston. Winning by scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-19, the Lasers complete the regular season with a 21-13 slate and an 8-4 GNAC record.
NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College Lasers improved to 20-13 this season after a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victories over Albertus Magnus College in a double-header on Tuesday night in the Athletic Center. The contests also marked senior night for Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) and Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) who are playing in their final season with the Lasers.

Sophomore outside hitter Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) was named Player of the Week and freshman setter Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) took the rookie honors.
NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College men’s volleyball team has been successful in defeating the University of New Haven in a triad of matches this season, completing the ensemble on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep of the Chargers in the Athletic Center. Lasell strengthens their overall record to 15-12 this season as they improve on a four game winning-streak, while New Haven slips to 3-8 on the year.

Mill was selected as co-Player of the Week while Glenn secured his third Rookie of the Week honor this season.

CAMBRIDGE, MA- Alex Mill (Danville, NH) was selected to the MIT Men's Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament team for his efforts leading Lasell College to a third place finish over the weekend. The Lasers went 2-2 overall, defeating Lancaster Bible, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-18), and New Haven, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-22), on Saturday after taking losses from Endicott, 3-2 (18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-15, 7-15), and no. 13 MIT, 3-1 (17-25, 27-25, 23-25, 13-25), on Friday evening.
NASHUA, NH - After taking the no. 9 Rivier College men’s volleyball team to a five set nail-biter just last week, the Lasell College Lasers were topped, 3-0, by the Raiders on Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tussle. The national leaders used a .300 attack percentage as a team, along with 16 total blocks to put away the match by scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-15.
NEWTON, MA- The Emmanuel College Saints, ranked at no. 13 nationally in the most recent AVCA Top 15 Coaches Poll, swept the Lasell College men’s volleyball team, 3-0, this evening at the Lasers Athletic Center. The Saints are now 19-4 overall and stand at 9-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) while the Lasers’ record holds at 11-9 this season, 3-3 in the league.

NEWTON, MA- In an outstanding Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash between Lasell College and nationally ranked Rivier College, the Raiders proved victorious after an extremely close five set match (27-29, 25-20, 25-20, 18-25, 15-8). Rivier, most recently ranked 8th across Division III men’s volleyball by the AVCA’s Top 15 coaches poll, improves their overall record to 19-5 while remaining undefeated in the conference at 7-0. Lasell drops to 9-8 this season and levels their conference slate at 2-2.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- Lasell College finished third at the Vassar College Invitational on Saturday behind no. 1 nationally ranked Nazareth College and the hosting Brewers after dropping a 3-1 match to the home team on Saturday. Vassar defeated the Lasers 25-22 in the first set before the Lasers returned to win the second by the same score. The Brewers topped Lasell 25-15 and 25-20 in the final two games of the weekend.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The Lasell College men's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the first day of competition at the Vassar College Men's Volleyball Invitational on Friday. Lasell fell 3-0 in the first match of the day against Nazareth College, the team that is currently ranked in a tie for the no. 1 position in the AVCA DIII Top 15 Coaches Poll, and then defeated Johnson & Wales University in three sets to conclude competition for the day.
NEWTON, MA- In just three sets, the Lasell College men’s volleyball team topped Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) rivals Mount Ida College by scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-23 on Monday night in the Athletic Center. The Lasers improved their overall record to 8-5 while boosting their GNAC slate to 2-1 while the Mustangs fell to 2-7 this season and 1-5 in the league.
NEW HAVEN, CT- Lasell College won out, 3-1, over Division II University of New Haven in non-conference men’s volleyball play on Friday night. The Lasers prevailed in the first set, 25-16, before the Chargers rebounded for a 25-23 win in set two. Lasell closed the match convincingly in the next two games, 25-11 and 25-19.
BOSTON, MA- The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team, ranked 12th nationally in Division III, handed Lasell College their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss of the season on Thursday night, 3-0. The Saints took the match 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 to boost their overall record to 10-3 and their GNAC slate to 4-1. Lasell stands at 6-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
