MT&F: Lasell competes at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational

MIDDLETOWN,  Conn. – The Lasell University men's indoor track and field team competed on Saturday at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational at Wesleyan University.

Senior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) recorded a season best in the 800-meter dash placing fifth out of 11 entries in 2:10.06.

The Lasers had four entries in the 200 meter dash. Freshman Ben Abely (Stonington, Conn.)  placed ninth out of 36 participants in a time of 24.25 seconds. Senior Malik Francis (Kingston, N.Y.) followed closely behind coming in 13th in 24.54. Junior Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) finished with a time of 25.23 and James Falzone (Waltham, Mass.) finished in 26.49 seconds.

Sophomore Nick Gird (Billerica, Mass.) ran the 60 meter dash in 7.45, placing 10th out of 30 entries, while Falzone finished with a time of 7.96.

Lasell had two representatives in the 400 meter dash. Francis finished 12th out of 21 runners in a time of 56.41 and Biello was right behind, coming in 15th in 58.81 seconds. Senior Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) competed in the 600 meter dash and finished in 1:47.93.

Senior Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) ran the mile run in a season best, 6:46.32. Junior Geralson Withrow (Mystic, Conn.) ran the 3000 meter in a time of 10:14.80.

Freshman Andrew Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed fifth out of 17 entries in the shot put (12.67/41'7"), while senior Nick Defaranos (East Haven, Conn.) placed 13th with a season best (9.92/37'6.5").

The Lasers will compete again on Sunday, February 16, at the inaugural GNAC Indoor Championships at Boston University.
