MT&F: Lasell competes at Art Farnham Invitational at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lasell University men's indoor track and field team competed on Saturday at the Art Farnham Invitational at MIT's Johnson Athletic Center.

Sophomore Nick Gird (Billerica, Mass.) ran the 60 meter dash in 7.38 seconds, placing third among 16 entries. Sophomore James Falzone (Waltham, Mass.) recorded a season best in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.93 seconds.

Senior Malik Francis (Kingston, N.Y.) competed in two sprint events, placing fifth out of 11 entries in the 200 meters in 24.42 seconds and placing 10th in the 60 in 7.59. Francis was one of three Laser sprinters who competed in the 200 meter dash. Junior David Jean (Malden, Mass.) finished in 25.71 seconds and Falzone followed closely behind in 26.33 seconds.

The Lasers had two entries in the 400 meter dash. Junior Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) finished in 57.65 seconds, a season-best, and Jean right after in 57.72 seconds.

Senior Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) recorded a season-best in the 600 meters in a time of 1:47.43. Junior Jordan Robertson (Warsaw, N.Y.) competed in two events, finishing with a time of 1:39.68 in the 600 meter and 10.26 in the 60 meter hurdles. Senior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11:22.

Junior Geralson Withrow (Mystic, Conn.) competed in the mile run, finishing second out of six runners with a time of 5:12.90, while senior Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) recorded a season-best 6:51.05.

Freshman Zach Kirsch (Winsted, Conn.) competed in two jumping events, placing 15th in the long jump (5.00/16'5") and recording a season-best in the triple jump (12.17/39'11.25"). Gird also competed in the long jump for Lasell placing 14th (5.28/17'4").

The Lasers had two entries in the shot put. Freshman Andrew Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed 12th (12.25/40'2.25") and senior Nick Defaranos (East Haven, Conn.) placed 20th (9.42/30'11").

Lasell finished first out of two teams in the 4x400 yard relay in a time of 3:59.26, with the team of Francis, Biello, Holden and Jean.

The Lasers will compete again next Saturday, February 1, at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational at Wesleyan University.
