CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) lowered his own school record in the 100-meter dash Saturday afternoon to lead the Lasell College men's track & field team at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT. The event featured more than a dozen schools from NCAA Divisions I and III.

Lane placed fourth among 29 sprinters in the 100 meters and fourth among 26 in the 200 meters. He finished the 100 in 11.24 seconds, lowering the school standard of 11.34 he set two weeks ago at Regis College, and ran a season-best 22.74 seconds in the 200 meters. Lane has already qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 200, which takes place next month at Williams College.

Sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) also competed in the 100 and 200 meter races for Lasell, placing 22nd in the 100 with a time of 12.27 seconds, and 20th in the 200 in a time of 24.84 seconds.

Lasell had two entries in the 800 meters, as junior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) placed 19th among 41 runners in a season-best time of 2:12.40, and classmate Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) was 38th in 2:36.42. Juniors Mark Payton (Barrington, R.I.) and Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) placed 32nd and 33rd in the 1500 meters with times of 5:51.04 and 6:55.98, respectively.

Junior Alex Desharnais (Kingston, Mass.) finished 25th in the shot put with a season-best mark of 9.81 meters (32'2.25"). Sophomore Anthony Nunez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was 34th in the shot put with a mark of 6.43 meters (21'1.25").

The Lasers will compete in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships next weekend, April 27-28, at Regis College.
