WESTON, Mass. – Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) had an outstanding day Friday afternoon to lead the Lasell College men's track & field team in the Regis College Spring Classic at Regis Stadium, an event featuring a dozen schools.

Lane took first place in two events, the 100 and 200-meter dashes, and broke his own school record in the 100. He ran a time of 11.45 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100, and lowered it to 11.34 seconds in the finals, bettering his own school record of 11.39 seconds set last year. He also ran a 23 seconds flat to win the 200 meters. There were 22 sprinters in the 100 and 30 in the 200.

Sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) also competed in the 100 and 200 meter races for Lasell, placing 16th in the 100 with a time of 12.39 seconds, and 14th in the 200 in a season-best time of 24.76 seconds.

Lasell had two entries in the 800 meters, as junior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) placed 13th among 31 runners in a season-best time of 2:13.68, and classmate Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) was 28th in 2:37.22. Juniors Mark Payton (Barrington, R.I.) and Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) both had season-best times in the 1500 meters with a 5:47.97 and 6:44.58, respectively.

Senior Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) made his season debut in the 5,000 meters, finishing in 18:17.83. Dalaba, the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion, is coming off in injury suffered during cross country season.

Junior Alex Desharnais (Kingston, Mass.) competed in a pair of field events for Lasell. He finished 22nd in the shot put with a mark of 8.89 meters (29'2"), and 23rd in the discus with a mark of 22.84 meters (74'11"). Sophomore Anthony Nunez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was 28th in the shot put with a mark of 6.88 meters (72'7").

The Lasers will be back on the track next Saturday, April 13, at the Second Annual Penmen Relays at Southern New Hampshire University, beginning at 10 a.m.
