Lasell Men’s Track & Field opens outdoor season at Wesleyan Classic

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Lasell College men's track & field team opened the outdoor season Saturday, sending five student-athletes to the Wesleyan University Spring Classic.

Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) was the top performer for the Lasers in two sprint events. He placed second among 15 sprinters in the 200 meters, finishing with a time of 22.93 seconds, and took sixth among 20 sprinters in the 100 meters with a time of 11.54 seconds.

Sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) also competed in the 100 and 200 meter races, placing 14th in the 100 with a time of 12.18 seconds, and 11th in the 200 in 24.77 seconds.

Lasell had two entries in the 800 meters, as junior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) placed fifth among the 15 runners in 2:16.96, and classmate Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) was 12th in 2:37.05. Junior Mark Payton (Barrington, R.I.) placed 24th in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:55.08.

Next up for the Lasers is the University of Massachusetts Corsair Classic next Saturday, March 30, beginning at 11 a.m.
