Lasell Men’s Track & Field competes indoors at Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) recorded the top performances for the Lasell College men's track & field team Saturday as the Lasers competed in the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational at Brandeis University.

Lane finished the 60-meter dash in 7.52 seconds, dropping 0.05 seconds off his season-opening time from a month ago and placing 12th among 49 sprinters in the race. He also took seventh place among 42 entries in the 200 meters, finishing in 24.14 seconds.

Lasell had three other athletes competing in the two sprint events. Sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) was 33rd in the 60 meters in 7.83 seconds and 26th in the 200 in 25.50: sophomore Chase King (Eastham, Mass.) was 44th in the 60 in 8.20 seconds and 38th in the 200 in 27.32; and freshman James Falzone (Waltham, Mass.) was 47th in the 60 in 8.34 seconds and 41st in the 200 in 28.82.

The Lasers had three juniors compete in the 600 meters – Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.), fifth place in 1:37.23; Kyle Mullen (West Newbury,  Mass.), sixth in 1:47.75; and Mark Payton (Barrington, R.I.), seventh in 1:58.50. Junior Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) ran the mile in 7:17.71 and finished 20th.

Junior Alex Desharnais (Kingston, Mass.) represented the Lasers in the field events, placing 19th in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 9.81 meters (32'2.25").

The Lasers will compete again on Sunday, Jan. 20, at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational at Harvard.
