Lasell Men’s Track & Field show strong performances at MIT Sean Collier Classic

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lasell College men's track & field team had several personal bests Saturday at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT at Morrison Track.

Junior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) posted the top performances for the Lasers in the sprints. He ran a season-best time of 11.59 seconds in the 100 meters to place ninth out of 39 sprinters, and we ran a career-best 23.11 in the 200 meters to place eighth out of 39 runners. Freshman Ben Biello (N. Dighton, Mass.) and sophomore Massimo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) were 26th and 27th, respectively, in the 100 with times of 12.19 and 12.20 seconds, and Biello was 33rd in the 200 in a season-best 24.98.

Senior Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) was Lasell's top finisher in the 400 meters, placing 18th in 55.08 seconds. Junior Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) was 17th in the 1500 meters in 4:29.62, and sophomore Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) was 23rd in the 800 meters in 2:17.23.

Lasell's entry in the 4x400 meters placed seventh, with the team of Vonick, senior Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.), Dalaba and Holden finishing in a time of 3:58.07.

Sophomore Alex Desharnais (Kingston, Mass.) represented Lasell in three field events, finishing 20th in both the shot put (season-best 8.69m/28'6.5") and discus (21.87m/71'9.25"). Cugno placed 19th in the javelin (29.64m/97'3.25").

The Lasers will return to the track on Sunday, April 29, in the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, hosted by Regis College in Weston, Mass.
