Lasell Track & Field races at USATF New England Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lasell men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up the 2018 indoor season Sunday with some strong performances at the USA Track & Field New England Championships at Harvard University.

Most notable for the Lasers was the performance of junior Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.), who ran the 3,000-meter race in a time of 9:44.34.  He dropped nine seconds off his personal best in the event (9:53.92), set in December 2016, and he improved his season-best time by nearly 24 seconds from a meet at Brandeis last month. He was also less than three seconds off the school record set in 2007.

Freshman Ben Biello (N. Dighton, Mass.) continued to improve his indoor 60m time with a personal-best mark of 7.77 seconds, while junior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) recorded a season-best in the 200 meters with a 24.05. Sophomore Massimo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) was right behind in both races, finishing the 60m in 7.86 seconds and the 200 in 25.44.

Sophomore Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) lowered his best time in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:13.40, more than three seconds faster than his PR set a year ago. Senior Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) was just a couple of seconds off his season best in the 800 with a 2:34.65.

Lasell entered a team in the 4x400 meter relay, with Holden, Cugno, Gonsalves and senior Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) just breaking the four-minute mark with a time of 3:59.98.

Sophomore Alex Desharnais (Kingston, Mass.) represented the Lasers in the field events, posting a mark of 7.76 meters (25', 5.5") in the shot put.

Sophomore Karli Manship (Pittsfield, Mass.) posted a personal-best for the Laser women in the 800 meters, running a 2:52.53, almost a second faster than her previous mark from December 2016 and three seconds better than her season best on the same track last month.

Freshman Isabella Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.) and sophomore Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) competed for Lasell in the 60 meters, finishing in 9.19 and 9.22 seconds, respectively.

The Lasell teams will rest and train for the next six weeks, gearing up for the outdoor season which begins on March 24 at the Wesleyan Spring Classic at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
