Lasell Track & Field competes at BU’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lasell men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Boston University Valentine Invitational on a Friday and Saturday. Following the meet on Saturday, the Lasell athletes attended the New Balance Indoor Games high performance meet at the Reggie Lewis Center where the team was entertained by professional T&F athletes including Olympians Emma Coburn, Jenny Simpson and Christian Coleman to name a few. 

On Friday several women competed with sophomore Allie Clancy (Beverly, MA) and freshman Isabella Raffone (Westbrook, CT) starting off the track weekend in the 60m dash with Clancy finishing in 9.41 and Raffone in 9.37.  In the 400m event freshman Allie Amos (Prescott, AZ) improved from her previous meet performance finishing in1:09.16.

The men's team competed on Saturday with freshman Ben Biello (N. Dighton, MA) setting the pace for the day in the 60m dash. Biello ran to a new personal best time in 7.79 shaving .23 seconds from two weeks ago on the same track. Later in the afternoon, Biello joined teammates in the 200m dash where he finished in 25.72. Junior Ben Lane (Rutland, VT) lowered his season best in the 200m finishing in 24.08 while sophomore Massimo Cugno (Medford, MA) also improved his season best performance in 25.16. In the mile, junior Ryan Dalaba (N. Granville, MA) ran to another sub five minute finish with a time of 4:57.38.

The Lasell Track & Field team will finish off the indoor track season at the USATF New England Track & Field Championships on Sunday, February 18 at Harvard University.
