Lasers Open Indoor Season at UMass Boston Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. (12/2/17) – The men's and women's track and field teams officially began the indoor season at the Reggie Lewis Center in the 6th annual UMass Boston Invitational. 

Sophomore Anthony Liriano (Elmira, N.Y.) kicked the 2017-18 season off with a school record in the weight throw.  On his third attempt Liriano was able to capture the record with a toss of 11.23 meters in his first time competing in the event.  Junior Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) got the track events started with the 5000-meter run.  Dalaba raced his way to a 16:54, just narrowly missing his personal best.  In the 60-meter dash sophomore Massimo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) hit a personal best. 

On the women's side junior Jordan Immerman and (Tarzana, Calif.) and freshman Savanah Houston (Chicopee, Mass.) competed in the long jump.  Houston made her debut jumping 3.90 meters. 

The Lasers will be back in action after the winter break at the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational hosted by Brandeis University on January 13th.
