Relays Post Strong Performances at Men's Track and Field New England Meet

Boston, Mass. (2/20/16) – The men's track and field team competed in the NCAA Division III New England meet at M.I.T on Saturday, with a pair of relay teams turning in strong performances. The Distance Medley Relay team of Nick Garifalos, Ben Lane, Kyle Vonick and Jeremy Shriber won their heat of the relay with a time of 11:19. Garifalos, Lane and Vonick then came back to run the 4x400 relay with Josh Nixon, beating out New England College to win their heat of the relay as well with a time of 3:44.

The Lasell College women's track and field team traveled to Middlebury College for the 2016 NCAA Division III New England meet where senior Melissa Cooley competed in the 400M and 200M sprints after qualifying earlier in the year and a the team also had entries in the 4x00 relay and the 4x200 relay.

Cooley, seeded 29th in the 400 coming into the meet, finished 10th overall with a time of 60.54 seconds narrowly missing out on earning All-New England honors. She followed that performance up with a 27.79 time in the 200, narrowly missing setting a new personal best.

The women's 4x400 relay team of Cooley, Ayumi Ranucci, Jaime Russo and Stephanie Seedorf set a new school record with a time of 4:38.98, smashing the previous record by nearly seven seconds. Ranucci, Russo, Seedorf and Lauren Lenahan posted a 2:01 in the 4x200 relay in their first time competing as a quartet.
