Garifalos Smashes Pair of School Records at David Hemery Invite

NEWTON, Mass. (2/14/16) – Sophomore Nicholas Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) set two school records on Saturday afternoon at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Garifalos set the first Lasell-best in the 500m race, placing 41st overall at 1:08.37, just .37 off the ECAC qualifying mark. In the 800m event, a race of 240 participants across all three divisions, Garifalos placed 159 with a final clock-in of 1:59.13.

Freshman Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) joined Garifalos in the 500 for his career-first, and finished at 1:09.45. Senior Jeremy Shriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) competed in the one mile event at 4:53.17, followed by freshman Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) and sophomore Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) at 5:02.00 and 5:03.05, respectively.

With the indoor season complete, the Lasers will prepare for their first outdoor meet on Saturday, March 26 at Wesleyan University.
