Indoor Track and Field Teams Compete at Jay Carisella Invitational

ROXBURY, Mass. (12/13/15) – The Lasell College men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2015-16 indoor track season at the Jay Carisella Track and Field Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Six Lasers competed on the men's side, capped by a 9:53.92 finish in the 3,000m run from sophomore Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.), shaving a whopping 32.97 seconds off last year's indoor outing.

Two newcomers had their indoor track season debuts as a Laser, as freshman Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) finished the 5,000m run in 17.07.93 to place 18th overall. In the 1 mile, freshman Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished 10th in the heat and 33rd overall with a final time of 4:58.70.

Sophomore Josh Nixon (Bloomfield, Conn.) returned to the track with a 7.61 finish in the 60m dash. Sophomore Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) followed Garifalos in the 3,000m at 11.17.76, while senior Jeremy Shriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) placed 19th overall in the 5,000m at 17.17.23.

Senior Jaime Russo (Watertown, Mass.) represented the women's team, running the 3,000m race in 12.20.49.

The Lasers will return from the Holiday break on Saturday, January 16 when they travel to Somerville, Mass. for the Tufts Invitational.
