Four Lasers Compete in DIII New Englands at MIT

NEWTON, Mass. (5/2/14) – Four Lasers competed in the Division III New England Championships this weekend on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to mark a first-ever appearance in outdoor New England's since the programs' beginning.

Freshman Nicholas Garifalos (Spotswood, Mass.), the lone Lasell runner in the meet, ran in the 800m race and finished fifth in the heat at 1:56.75, just short of his PR of 1:56.68. 

Freshman Jordan Bowman (Salem, N.H.) clinched third in flight number three of the long jump, and recorded his best distance at 6.50m. 

Heather Longley threw the discus in the first flight of two, placing sixth 33.24m.

Junior Cassandra Stout (Plymouth, Mass.) threw the javelin at the event, and recorded her farthest of the day throw at 34.16m. Stout will compete in the DIII ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet on Thursday, May 14 at Springfield College, as she previously qualified in the javelin event on April 11 at the Smith Pioneer Invitational, recording a Lasell best of 37.71m.
