Track and Field Teams Compete in Regular Season Finale at Regis

NEWTON, Mass. (4/27/15) – The Lasell College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in their 2015 regulation season finale at Regis College on Sunday afternoon in The Pride Classic Invitational.

Freshman Nicholas Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) had a solid performance on the day, highlighting the 800m run. Garifalos placed second overall in the event, and achieved a personal record to go along with a Lasell College best time of 1:56.68. Garifalos, a key leg in the men's 4x400m relay, teamed up with senior Kyle Northrop (Bellingham, Mass.), freshman Jordan Bowman, and junior Andrew Panther (Cheshire, Conn.) to sprint past the 2014 outdoor record of 4:03.11, crossing the finishing line at 3:45.33. Sophomore Shawn Woodworth (Concord, N.H.) represented the Lasers in the 400m dash while achieving a new personal record at 55.85.

Junior Melissa Cooley (Huntington Beach, Calif.) placed third in the 200m (7th overall) and the 400m event, with times of 27.96 and 1:03.31, respectively. Sophomore Ayumi Ranucci (Auburn, Maine) ran the 100m dash in 13.85, earning fourth place overall.

For the distance runners, sophomore Amy MacDonald (Burlington, Mass.) competed in her first 1,500m race of the season, and finished at 5:24.05, setting a new Lasell record. Freshman MacKadie Heon (Uncasville, Conn.)  highlighted the field events, placing second overall in the javelin throw while setting a school record of 36.30m.
