Panther Continues Strong Performance in Men's Track and Field

NEWTON, Mass. (2/9/15) - The Lasell College men's indoor track and field team saw many personal bests as well as record-breaking performances this past weekend at the Tufts Cupid Challenge meet. 

For the second meet in a row, junior Andrew Panther (Cheshire, Conn.) surpassed a Lasell College record, this time in the 200m dash. Panther finished the race in 23.64 seconds, sprinting past the previous record of 24.02 seconds. 

Three other Lasers achieved personal records throughout the meet. In the 400m, sophomore Jaquan Johnson finished third in his heat and 38th overall with a time of 55.09. Junior Jeremy Shriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) finished the 5,000m run in 17:22.53, 20 seconds faster than his former time. 

Senior Kyle Northrop (Bellingham, Mass.) and junior Patrick Sponzo (Windsor, Conn.) were also top contenders, finishing the 600m run in 1:30.93 and 1:30.04, respectively. 

The squad will return to the track on Saturday, February 14 at Boston University for the BU Valentine Invitational.
