Sponzo Runs Past 800M Record

NEWTON, Mass. (12/15/14) – Junior Patrick Sponzo (Windsor, Conn.) set the Lasell College 800M run record at 2:04.44 this past weekend at the Jay Carisella Invitational. Sponzo sliced his indoor career best by 2.46 seconds, placing 5th in the heat finals.

Junior Jeremy Schriber (Central Valley, N.Y.) set a new personal best in the 5,000M run, crossing the line at 17:32.60. In the 60M dash, freshman Joshua Nixon (Bloomfield, Conn.) sprinted past his previous performance, achieving a personal record at 7.45.

Junior Andrew Panther (Cheshire, Conn.) also had solid performances on the day, finishing the 400M dash in 51.89 seconds. Panther joined Sponzo and sophomores Jaquan Johnson and Shawn Woodworth (Concord, N.H.) on the 4x400M relay team, running at 3:42.61.

The men's track and field team will return to the track after the New Year on January 17th at Tufts University.
