Nicholas Noheimer Tabbed to Lead Lasell Cross Country and Track and Field Programs

NEWTON, Mass. (8/13/14) - Lasell College Director of Athletics, Kristy Walter has named Nicholas Noheimer the new men's and women's cross country and track and field coach beginning this fall. Noheimer comes to Lasell from American International College of the Northeast 10 Conference where he was an assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets.

"Coach Noheimer brings a range of experience, both as a four-year collegiate runner and after spending three seasons coaching at the college level." said Walter on hiring Noheimer. "I look forward to seeing him continue to develop our cross country and track and field programs here at Lasell, utilizing his knowledge and passion to mentor our student-athletes."

Noheimer ran four seasons of cross country as well as indoor and outdoor track at Eastern Connecticut State University where he earned indoor All New-England honors in 2009, was the lead leg of the record holding distance medley relay, and set the indoor mile record with a time of 4:37.2. After earning his undergraduate degree in physical education while minoring in health and coaching he continued on to Springfield College where he spent two years as a graduate assistant for cross country and track and field while earning his master's degree in physical education with a concentration in advanced level coaching.

Noheimer can't wait to get started with preseason, saying "I'm excited to be on campus and to have a chance to be a part of the Lasell community and tradition. I'm looking forward to working with our current student-athletes and bringing in the next generation of student-athletes who want to be a part of succeeding here at Lasell."

While at Springfield Noheimer helped guide two distance athletes to All-American honors as well as four overall distance national qualifiers in track and cross country. He also helped lead the men to the schools highest finish in regional championship history since joining Division III in 1996.

Noheimer then moved on to AIC where he saw two cross country runners he was working with earn All-American status in the fall of 2013, as well as one runner in the track season's earn All-American status in the indoor 5,000 and the outdoor 5,000 and 10,000.  

AIC head coach Leo Mayo thinks good things are in store for Coach Noheimer and the Lasers programs. "Coach Noheimer is young and energetic, and will to bring to Lasell his enthusiasm and passion for both cross country and track & field.  What is exciting about him is he has a lot of experience in many different events.  I believe it will be a smooth transition and he will bring Lasell to the next level of success."
