Lasell Men’s Track and Field has Strong Showing at USM

Newton, MA - The Lasell College men's track and field team continued their strong start to the new year, with a 6th place finish at the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday January 28th. Junior Antonio Nesbitt(Springfield, MA) was the overall winner in the 55m dash, clocking a new Lasell record of 6.79 seconds, and also finishing 4th overall in the 200m dash in 24.68 seconds.

Junior Miguel Taveras(Lawrence, MA) set a personal record in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.42, narrowly missing setting a new Lasell record by .03 seconds. Junior Issac Montoya(El Paso, TX) took 5th in the men's 55m hurdles with a time of 9.71. Freshmen Kyle Northrop(Bellingham, MA) also established a new personal best in the mile, posting a time of 4:57.34 while freshmen Bruce MacKay(Suffield, CT) made an impressive debut, clocking a 7.74 in the men's 55m dash.

Richard Hawkes(Weymouth, MA) led the way for the men's squad in the non-running events, logging a 9.3 meter throw in the men's shot.

The men's track and field team will return to competition next weekend, when they head to the Smith Tartan Invitational.
