Lasell Men Place Fifth in Inaugural Appearance at Bates Invitational

Newton, MA - The Lasell College men's track and field team turned in an excellent start to the new semester, placing fifth in their first ever appearance at the Bates College Invitational on Saturday January 21st. Senior JB Leger set a new school record in the high jump, clearing 1.76 meters, good for fourth in the meet.

Antonio Nesbitt earned sixth place in the men's 60M dash, with a time 7.5 seconds. In the men's 400M sprint, freshman DaShaun Hightower finished in 5th place running a 57.81 in the finals, followed by junior Issac Montoya who finished in sixth place. Montoya's best time on the afternoon came in the preliminary heat, when he ran the 400M in 56.91. The duo of Hightower and Montoya also placed 6th and 7th respectively in the 60M high hurdles, with time of 10.21 and 10.47. Junior Miguel Taveras made his return to Lasell Track and Field, posting the fourth best time in Lasell history in the 1,000 meters finishing in 2:51.2.

The men will return to the track on Saturday January 28th when they travel to the University of Southern Maine.
