Men's Track & Field Places 4th at Smith Tartan Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, MA- At the Smith Tartan Men's Track & Field Invitational, the Lasell College Lasers placed 4th overall as a team behind WPI, Amherst, and American International. 

 

WPI outshone all other teams with an outstanding 261.5 points to take top honors as a program. Amherst tallied 215 points and American International produced 87 points in third place.  Lasell outscored Siena College, St. Joseph's (L.I.), Community College of Rhode Island, and Assumption with 31 points as a team.  

 

Lasell's 4x200 relay team of Shane Cardillo (Great Barrington, MA), Tri Vo (Attleboro, MA), Mike Isherwood (Warwick, RI), and Stephen Petrin (Vernon, CT) set a new school mark of 1:39.27, while also taking 3rd place in the race and earning six points for the Lasers.  The quartet took over two seconds off the previous institution best record of 1:41.7. 

 

Also setting a new Lasell record was Antonio Nesbitt (Springfield, MA) in the 55 meter dash.  Nesbitt broke his own previous record of 7.02, recording a new best of 6.96 and placing 4th in the event. 

 

The distance medley team of Miguel Taveras (Lawrence, MA), Raymon Donis (Rayham, MA), Joe Gately (Woburn, MA), and Mikhail Krevosky (Oxford, MA) took second place in the DMR with a final time of 12:19.96.  

 

Placing 3rd in the triple jump was JB Leger (Waltham, MA) with a distance of 40'2", and just behind in 6th place was Ethan Genter (Newbugh, NY) marking a distance of 38'6.25".   Gately rounded out the field events with a 7th place performance in the long jump, with a jump of 16'1.5". 

 

The Lasers will return to Cambridge, Massachusetts for the second MIT Co-Ed Invitational of the season next Saturday, February 12th.  The Invitational begins at 10:00 a.m.
