Leger, Curtis Post New Laser Records at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, MA- JB Leger (Waltham, MA) and James Curtis (Everett, MA) each broke their own previous Lasell all-time men's track & field records at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational on Saturday.

 

Leger posted an impressive 12.85 meter jump in the triple jump, taking 2nd place overall in the event.  He broke his own prior record of 12.36 meters to set the new top performance.  Curtis improved upon his former Lasell best by throwing the shot put 10.83 meters to top his old record of 10.76 meters. 

 

Also competing in the field events were Ethan Genter (Newburgh, NY) with a 11.80 meter triple jump and Richard Hawkes (Weymouth, MA) with a 5.02 meter long jump.  

 

Six Lasers performed in the 55 meter dash on Saturday.  Antonio Nesbitt (Springfield, MA) led them all with a 7.03 second run.  Following Nesbitt  were Tri Vo (Attleboro, MA) in 7.07 seconds, Shane Cardillo (Great Barrington, MA) in 7.08 seconds, Heath Cormier (Hiram, ME) in 7.18 seconds, Boulos Abdallah (Watervliet, NY) in 7.50, and David Sanchez-Cortez (Middleton, MA) in 7.83 seconds.

 

Stephen Petrin (Vernon, CT) and Michael Isherwood (Warwick, RI) finished the 200 meter run in 24.69 seconds and 25.47 seconds respectively and Raymon Donis (Raynham, MA) concluded the 800 meter in 2 minutes, 23 seconds.  Miguel Taveras (Lawrence, MA) came in 7th place overall in the mile run, clocking a time of 4:58.3.

 

Lasell will return to action next Saturday, February 5th at the Smith Tartan Invitational.  The competition begins at 10:00 a.m.
