Lasell's Indoor Men's Track & Field Team Opens Up Season at Smith Winter Classic

 

 NORTHAMPTON, MA- The 2010-2011 Lasell College men's track & field season opened up on Saturday morning at the Smith Winter Classic. Lasell had a number of top performances including a third place finish for junior JB Leger (Waltham, MA) with a personal best of 12.36m (40'6") in the triple jump.

 

The men's team put forth three new Lasell all-time records at Smith, including Leger's triple jump performance.  In addition, junior Antonio Nesbitt (Springfield, MA) and freshman Richard Hawkes (Weymouth, MA) had record-setting performances in the 55 meter dash and the long jump.  Nesbitt finished the 55 meter dash in 7.02 seconds, removing four tenths of a second off the previous record.  Hawkes set the Lasell long jump record at 5.31m (17'5 ¼"), taking 12th place in the event.  Hawkes also completed the 55 meter hurdles in 9.8 seconds, placing fifth in the event. 

 

Coming in fifth place in the triple jump was Lasell's freshman Ethan Genter (Newburgh, NY) with a personal-best of 11.98 meters (39'3").  In the 800 meter run, Lasell placed Raymon Donis (Raynham, MA), Mikhail Krevosky (Oxford, MA), and Charlie Dilella (Branford, CT) in the 9th, 10th, and 12th spots respectively. Donis ended the race in 2:21.8, Krevosky came in next with a time of 2:22.2, and Dilella concluded the event in 2:24.8.  Joe Gately (Woburn, MA), Felix Villa (Bridgeport, CT), and Jeremy Fay (Belchertown, MA) finished the 400 meter dash in the ranks of 8th, 13th, and 14th.  Gately clocked a time of 57.07 and Villa and Fay followed with times of 1:05.5 and 1:14.8.

 

The men's 4x200 meter relay, which consisted of Boulos Abdallah (Watervliet, NY), Hawkes, Tri Vo (Attleboro, MA), and Stephen Petrin (Vernon, CT), finished in fourth place with a time of 1:41.9. Abdallah also finished the 55 meter dash in 7.4 seconds.  Petrin came in 9th place in the 200 meter run with a time of 24.5 seconds, followed by Vo in 14th place with a time of 25.2 seconds.  Leger finished the 200 meter in 30.4 seconds. 

 

The Lasell men's track & field team will compete next in the Brandeis Invitational on January 15th, at 10:00 a.m.
