Lasell Men’s Soccer overpowered by nationally-ranked Monks

STANDISH, Maine – The Lasell College men's soccer team was overpowered by nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's College on Maine Saturday afternoon, dropping a 13-0 decision to the Monks in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the SJC Athletics complex.

The Monks are ranked sixth and 10th in the D3soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches polls, respectively, and third in the United Soccer Coaches New England Region poll. SJC, now 16-0-0 overall and 11-0-0 in the GNAC, is the only NCAA DIII Men's Soccer program in the country without a loss or tie.

Lasell kept the Monks off the scoreboard for the first 24 minutes, but the hosts scored three times in a three-minute span to take a commanding lead. They tacked on three more goals before halftime and then blew to game open in the second half.

Noah Elmore led the way with three goals for the winners, while Austin Ward and Jesse Ramirez added two goals apiece. Saint Joe's has now outscored its opponents 72-1 this season, and 139-2 over the past two years.

The Monks outshot the Lasers, 39-6. Senior Connor Wall (East Hampton, Conn.) and sophomore Simon Nigro (Simsbury, Conn.) each had two shots for the visitors.

Lasell wraps up the regular season Wednesday with a non-conference game at Framingham State University (4:30 p.m.)
