Lasell Men’s Soccer shut out by Salve Regina

NEWTON, Mass. – Junior Donald Igo (Needham, Mass.) scored two goals Saturday afternoon as Salve Regina University defeated Lasell College, 2-0, in a non-conference men's soccer contest at Taylor Field.

The Seahawks kept their unbeaten season alive, improving to 13-0-2 overall, while Lasell drops to 3-9-2.

Prior to the game Lasell honored six seniors for their contributions to the program. Connor Wall (East Hampton, Conn.), Matt Ferris (Wethersfield, Conn.), Abel AlCantar (Revere, Mass.) Sawyer Geelan (Guilford, Conn.) Carter Migre (Halifax, Mass.) and Jordan Bowman (Haverhill, Mass.) have each dedicated time and hard work to the Lasell men's soccer program during their careers.

Salve Regina took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, as junior Donald Igo (Needham, Mass.) capitalized on a pass from Owen Stevenson (Middletown, Conn.)

Near the end of the first half, in the 44th minute, Lasell freshman Jake Oullette (East Granby, Conn.) had his second shot of the game, but was unable to find the back-of-the-net.

In the second half, the Salve Regina defense kept the Lasers without a shot. Igo added his second goal of the game with just over 10 minutes remaining.

Between the pipes for the Lasers, juniors Teo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) and Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) each played added 45 minutes of action. Cugno stopped three shots in the first half, while Burhans made four saves in the second half. Salve Regina's Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.) made two saves to secure the Seahawks victory.

The Lasers travel to Keene State on Monday October 15th at 7:00 p.m. Salve Regina heads to Wentworth for a 7:00 p.m. match-up on Wednesday October 17th.
