Norwich Shuts Out Men's Soccer 7-0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Lasell men's soccer team fell to Norwich University 7-0 Wednesday night on a rainy Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium. Lasell dips to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in the GNAC, while Norwich improves to 6-3-4 and 4-0-3 against league opponents. 

Senior Camilo Estrada (Pawtucket, R.I) notched three assists, while the Cadets had six different goal scorers in the victory. 

Sophomore Carlos Guerra (Mission, Texas) had two goals to lead the Norwich offense, while Jeff Purdy (Gorham, N.H.), Luke Gleadle (Gilbert, Ariz.), Ivan Bansah (Montpelier, Vt.), Ransford Ahenkora (Bronx, N.Y.) and Staige Davis (Shelburne, Vt.) each scored a goal as well in Norwich's highest offensive output of the season. 

Norwich outshot Lasell 25-17 for the game. Kenan Omerbasic (Windsor Locks, Conn.) had three shots to lead the Lasers. 

Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) suffered the loss in 55 minutes of work, making five saves in the effort. Counterpart Matteo Cugno (Medford, Mass.) stepped in for 22 minutes and made two saves, while Jaret Petrie (Milford, Conn.) played in 13:55 of relief

Brenden Germano made five saves to pick up the victory and shared the team shutout with Ryan Fitzpatrick (Millbury, Mass.) getting his first game action of the season. 

Lasell will honor its four seniors prior to their next contest on Saturday, October 14. The Lasers host reigning GNAC champion Saint Joseph's (Maine) at 12:00 p.m., while Norwich travels to Suffolk on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
