Owls Soar Past Men's Soccer

KEENE, N.H. - Four Owls found the back of the net, as the Keene State men's soccer team cruised past Lasell 7-0 in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening. Lasell drops to 1-13 overall while Keene State shifts to 8-4-1.

Jason Smith, the reigning LEC Goalkeeper of the Week, picked up the shutout between the pipes for the Owls, making one save, while Constantine Bouzakis and Micheal Sancomb earned their career debuts.

Patrick McAvoy (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and Jackson Burhans (Berlin, N.Y.) stopped four apiece in the loss for the Lasers.

Keene State was dominate on offensive, as the Owls outshot Lasell 26-5, and edged the Lasers 7-2 on corner kicks.  Promise Kpee earned his 16th goal of the season, powering him to the top of LEC's statistics in goals scored and in total points with 33.

Keene State was quick to find the back of the net as Kpee netted his first of the night in just 24 seconds, collecting the ball at the top of the box and placing his shot into the low, left corner. Kpee picked up his second goal of the night just three minutes later, as he chipped the ball over the head of McAvoy.

In the 20th minute, Conor Leahy sent a header at the top of the offensive third towards the feet of Kpee, who faced a one-on-one with McAvoy. Kpee's shot bounced off McAvoy, but was powerful enough to land past the endline, as Kpee earned his second hat trick of the season.

Lasell had a goal scoring opportunity in the 21st minute, but the powerful shot at the top of the box by Kenan Omerbasic (Windsor, Conn.) was saved by Smith.

Conor Leahy tapped the ball into an open net in the 32nd, after capitalizing on a mistake from McAvoy, leading the Owls into halftime up 4-0.

Keene State remained dominate in the second half, as LJ Luster made a run up the left side and crossed the ball to Cole Acocelli, as his shot hit the post and bounced into the back of the net in the 48th minute.

In the 58th minute, Luck Ndahigwa scored just his second goal of the season, as he found the ball at the beginning of the offensive third and drove towards the goal, placing his shot past an outstretched Burhans and into the low, left corner, putting the Owls up 6-0.

The final tally of the evening came in the 64th minute, when Cole Acocelli added his second of the game off a feed from Donovan Harris.

Lasell had an opportunity to get on the board in the 81st minute, as Jonathan Sutton (Orange, Conn.) fired towards the goal from the top of the box, but Sancomb was there to make the save.

Lasell will celebrate its senior day on Saturday, as the Lasers host Mount Ida at noon in GNAC play. Keene State continues Little East Conference (LEC) play on Saturday as well, as the Owls take on Rhode Island College at 4 p.m.
