MLax: Lasers Head to Semi-Finals with 15-6 Win Over Norwich

Northfield, VT - The Lasers headed to the #2 Cadets to compete in the GNAC quarterfinals. The Lasers took home a convincing 15-6 win, sending them to the GNAC semi-finals. 

Lasell opened up the match with three back to back goals, gaining an early lead over the Cadets. Norwich answered with a singular goal of their own, but the Lasers defense kept them scoreless for the rest of the quarter. Lasell notched three more goals, heading into the second quarter with a 6-1 advantage. 

Norwich opened up the second with a goal in the first 30 seconds of the quarter. Just a minute later they fired another goal to the back of the Lasers net, bringing them within 3 goals of Lasell. An unassisted goal from Francis Pino kept Norwich just barely out of reach, but they answered with another goal of their own. Lasells Sam Guilmette and Finnegan McCormack each tacked a goal on the board, heading into halftime with the Lasers leading 9-4. 

McCormack opened up the third quarter with his third goal of the game. Lasell followed up with another goal, this time from Colin Lebaron assisted by Will McCarthy. Norwich tacked two goals on the board, both in man-up situations. McCormack fired a fourth goal in for the Lasers, followed by an unassisted goal from Jason Martin to end the third. 

The Lasers defense held Norwich scoreless in the fourth, adding two more goals to their own side to end with a final score of 15-6. 

McCormack lead the Lasers offense with four goals. McCarthy, Martin, LeBaron, and Patrick Mulhern each had two goals a piece in the win. Michael Catalano had 17 saves in the net to earn the win. 

Up Next: The Lasers will head to Saint Josephs of Connecticut for their GNAC semi-final matchup this Wednesday with a 4:00 start.
