MLax: Lasers Drop Nail Biter to USJ Bluejays 11-10

West Hartford, CT. - The Lasers travelled to the Univeristy of Saint Josephs Connecticut this afternoon, dropping to the Bluejays by just one goal. With the results the Lasers drop to 8-6 overall, and 6-2 in GNAC play. 

Lasell jumped on the board first, with an unnassisted goal from Finnegan McCormack two minutes in. Just under thirty-seconds later, Mathew Carbone fired one in to give Lasell a 2-0 lead. A few minutes later the Bluejays answered with their first goal of the game. Lasell's defense held USJ scoreless for the next ten minutes, letting up the game tying goal with four minutes to go in the quarter. 

The second quarter was dominated by the Bluejays, scoring five unanswered goals on the Lasers and taking the lead. Lasell's Colin LeBaron, assisted by Jason Martin, scored a powerplay goal with just under two minutes to go in the quarter. USJ snuck one more goal in before the quarter ended, heading into halftime with 8-3 lead over the Lasers. 

Lasell opened up the third quarter with two unnassisted goals, one from Anthony DeRosa and one from Francis Pino. The Lasers scored one more goal in the third, sandwiched by a pair of USJ goals. 

Once again, the Lasers opened up the third quarter with two back to back goals. The Bluejays fired one more in, which would end up being the winning goal for USJ. Lasell scored twice more, but they ended just a goal shy of forcing USJ into an overtime matchup. 

LeBaron led the Lasers offense with three goals on the day. Michael Catalano held strong in the net, collecting a whopping 21 saves. 

Up Next: The Lasers will host Elms College this Saturday for a GNAC matchup. Saturday is also the Men's Lacrosse White Ribbon game, as well as Alumni Day.
