MLax: Lasers Drop to Bulldogs 12-9 in GNAC Play

Newton, MA - The Lasers hosted Dean College for a GNAC matchup, dropping to the Bulldogs with a final score of 12-9.

The first eight minutes of the game had both teams going back and forth, neither able to get through the others defense long enough to score. The Bulldogs pulled the trigger first, scoring a goal seven minutes in. Dean would score again with just under three minutes left in the first.

The game opened up in the second, with back to back goals from the Lasers. Anthony DeRosa fired one in, assisted by Landon Reyes, giving Lasell their first goal of the game. Just two minutes later Reyes would net one, assisted by DeRosa. Dean answered with two goals of their own, taking back their previous lead. Lasell responded with a goal from Ryan Stone, with another assist to DeRosa. However, the Dean defense kept Lasell scoreless for the rest of the quarter, while netting three more goals of their own.

The Lasers outscored Dean 4-2 in the third quarter. Lasell scored three unanswered goals before Dean got back onto the scoreboard. However, a Bulldog goal in the last 15 seconds of the quarter left the Lasers down by two heading into the fourth.

Lasell opened up the fourth with a goal from Finnegan McCormack, assisted by Jason Martin, to bring the score to 9-8. The Bulldogs answered with two more goals of their own, forcing the Lasers to climb out of a three-goal deficit. Martin fired one in with five minutes left, but would be the Lasers last goal of the day.

DeRosa lead the Lasers offense with two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Michael Catalano tallied 16 saves on the game.
