Newton, MA - The Lasell Lasers defeated the Saint Joseph Blue Jays by a final score of 15-7 on Saturday. The Lasers move to 3-4 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, while USJ is now 3-3 and 0-1.

The Lasers got out to the early lead, scoring the first three goals of the game. It started with a Jack Tauson goal just over three minutes into the game. Just a minute later Patrick Mulhern doubled the Laser lead. A couple minute later Adam Haytayan furthered the Laser lead to 3-0 off of a pass from Nate Taggart. The Blue Jays then scored two times to close the gap, but the Lasers immediately responded. Lasell scored twice in the last 90 seconds on goals from David Burke and Patrick Mulhern. Mulhern's goal was assisted by Connor Flynn. USJ then ended the quarter with a goal while a man up, cutting the Laser lead to 5-3 after one quarter.

The second quarter was a big one for Lasell, as they outscored the Blue Jays 4-1. It started with a Landon Reyes goal while a man up. Almost immediately after, Francis Pino scored a goal to give the Lasers two goals in the first minute of the quarter. After an USJ man up goal, the Lasers closed out the half with goals from Patrick Mulhern and Jack Tauson. This gave the Lasers a 9-4 lead at the break.

The two teams alternated goals in the third, with the Blue Jays scoring first early. The Lasers responded with a goal from Anthony DeRosa. After USJ scored another, Ryan Stone responded with a goal assisted by Mulhern. The Lasers led 11-6 headed into the fourth quarter.

The Lasers controlled the fourth, as Patrick Mulhern opened the period up with a goal assisted by Flynn. The next goal was the highlight of the day, as Lasell faceoff specialist Matthew Carbone won the following face off after Mulhern's goal, and raced down the field. He fired a shot that found the back of the net for his first career goal. Reyes and Mulhern would wrap up the scoring for the Lasers. After USJ added a late goal, the Lasers won 15-7.

Magnus Leonard tied a program record with seven caused turnovers. That mark has happened three times before, with David Sheehan doing it twice, and Tyler Rose doing it once. Carbone led the team with nine ground balls, and an 11-24 day on faceoffs. Mulhern scored a third of the team's goals with five. Goalie Michael Catalano picked up the win, making eight saves.
