MLax: Lasers Fall on Road at Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Lasell Lasers fell to 0-2 on the season on Saturday, falling 13-5 against Vassar. The Brewers are now 3-1 on the season.

Vassar opened the scoring two minutes into the game, and added a second goal a minute later. The Lasers responded 30 seconds later with a goal from David Burke, making it 2-1. The Brewers then scored five straight goals to close out the quarter, taking a 7-1 lead into the second. After a slow start to the second, the Brewers found the back of the net six minutes into the quarter. Vassar would add one more goal before halftime to take a 9-1 lead into the break.

After Vassar opened the second half with another goal, the Lasers would get back on the board seconds later with a goal from Casey Hart. After 10 scoreless minutes, the Lasers struck again with just 15 seconds remaining in the third on a shot from Anthony DeRosa. The Lasers would then beat the buzzer with another goal to the period, this time off the stick of Burke, his second of the game. The Brewers scored twice to start the final quarter, and the Lasers answer on a Will McCarthy goal. The Brewers would score once more, and take a 13-5 win.

Landon Reyes led the Lasers with seven shots, with Adam Haytayan behind him with five. Davide Burke and Matthew Carbone led the way with eight ground balls each, while Tyler Rose led the team with four caused turnovers. The Lasers were able to control the faceoffs, winning 14 of the 20 faceoffs, with Carbone winning 14. In goal, Michael Catalano made 19 saves.
