NEWTON, Mass. – The post-season honors continue for one of the senior captains of the Lasell College men's lacrosse team Thursday as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its 2019 All-America Teams. 

Senior David Sheehan (Tewksbury, Mass./Central Catholic) earned Honorable Mention as a defenseman on the USILA Division 3 Team. Sheehan was previously named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference, and received Lasell's prestigious Torchbearer Award.

Sheehan started every single Lasell men's lacrosse game the past four years. He was two-year captain and the leader of the Lasell defense, which statistically ranked #6 in division III. He earned his third All-GNAC selection and second straight First Team nod after leading the GNAC and ranking 29th nationally with 44 caused turnovers. He has the all-time single season and career records for caused turnovers at Lasell. His 165 career caused turnovers ranks in the top 10 in the NCAA Division III career record book.

Sheehan helped lead the Lasers to three regular season GNAC championships, two title game appearances and one GNAC tournament crown. Off the field, he has spearheaded numerous exercises around Domestic and Sexual violence training, not only for his team, but for the Lasell Community.  He was also named as a finalist for the One Love Foundation Unsung Hero award. He is a three-time member of the Dean's list and graduated this month with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Sheehan becomes the fifth student-athlete in Lasell history to earn All-America honors, joining women's soccer players Carly Zdanek (United Soccer Coaches Third Team in 2017) and Mack Kingman (National Soccer Coaches Association of America Second Team in 2016), men's soccer player Mike Skelton (National Soccer Coaches Association of America Third Team in 2013) and men's basketball player Jose Guitian (D3Hoops.com Honorable Mention in 2009).
