MLX: Lasell captain named One Love YRL Unsung Hero finalist

NEWTON, Mass. – A senior captain on the Lasell College men's lacrosse team has been named a finalist for the One Love Men's Division III YRL Unsung Hero Award.

Senior David Sheehan (Tewksbury, Mass./Central Catholic) of Lasell is one of four finalists for the prestigious national award. The award honors college lacrosse student-athletes for their dedication, integrity, humility, hard work, and community service.

The other Division III men's finalists are John Biello of Albion College, John Tartline of Methodist University and Tanner Brown of William Peace University. There will be six One Love's YRL Unsung Hero Award winners, one from each division (DI, DII, and DIII; men and women). The winners will be announced in late May and will receive a Tiffany bowl and a $250 donation to the charity of their choice.

Sheehan has played in every single Lasell lacrosse game his entire career. A two-year captain, he is the leader of the Lasell defense currently ranked #5 statistically in Division III. Sheehan leads the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in caused turnovers and has the single-season and career records for caused turnovers at Lasell. He has helped Lasell to a 16-1 overall record and a berth in this Saturday's GNAC Championship game.

"David has led countless exercises off the field with the program regarding Domestic and Sexual Violence Training," said Lasell head coach Bill Mason. "David has exemplified leadership, ability and character since day one on this campus."
